Maintain your tank and system following a maintenance programme that includes:

• three monthly inspection – clear gutters, leaf guards and first flush diverters; clean and replace filters as necessary
• annual inspection – clean tank to remove accumulated sediment; sludge may be removed by siphoning or pumping without requiring the tank to be emptied.

Follow the manufacturer’s recommendations for tanks and filter maintenance.

Treat tank water to remove organic materials if necessary.

Trim back trees overhanging the roof to reduce the incidence of leaves and bird droppings falling onto the collection area.
