Eco Design Advisors

This free service is available from supporting councils around the country. The advisors provide information about energy and water use and materials on house building projects.

They have access to a large number of specialist design assistance tools, assessment methods and information – all for free.

The service is open to both homeowners and building professionals working on home building projects. If you are an architect, you have the option of gaining 10 CPD credits for a 2 hour visit. You can meet advisors in council offices, or they can make site visits. The Eco Design Advisor website also has a range of videos and fact sheets.

Councils currently supporting the service are Auckland, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Hutt, Nelson, Christchurch and Dunedin.

The EDA service is an initiative of BRANZ Ltd. For more information go to www.ecodesignadvisor.org.nz
